Tecmo Bowl Throwback Announced
After months of suspense and surmisal, we have an official proclamation that Tecmo Bowl Throwback is approaching to XBLA and PSN in Springtime 2010.
I've made information technology no secret that I will play the crap out of whatsoever game that updates the heyday of Tecmo Super Bowl. The last time I wrote about IT, I was so excited that I went home and tried to pose my old 8 spot NES upwards and running. I blew so hard into that gray cartridge that I was seeing golden stars. Alas, my centenarian hardware had at long last relinquished up the ghost, with the ghost being the blinking, somewhat disingenuous opening sequence of Tecmo Fantastic Bowl emblazoned in low pressure definition glory on my HDTV. *suspire*
Merely now I won't birth to impartial hold my used NES cart and cry, remembering bygone days of football yore, because I'll soon represent able to download Tecmo Bowl Throwback on Xbox Live Arcade (or the PlayStation Network, if I were so inclined). Coming in "Jump on 2010", there's no official word on how much it will cost, only, when it comes to this openhearted of game, does that really weigh?
There are only a little official details only Tecmo Bowl Throwback will support online play against friends patc besides having various online leaderboards. I've said it before: running online seasons would be great only there is no word on that front.
There are 32 teams open to play, just, it is as I feared, Tecmo Bowl Throwback doesn't come out to induce the NFL license. Only with the ability to customize your roster, you might represent able to repair any team you want to. If they allow the distribution of custom rosters, then we'll soon watch rosters mimicking current NFL players. Or better yet, historic rosters from 1991 or even 1986. That would live enough to make me set the Superbowl Shuffle.
The best part of Tecmo Bowl Throwback is that although the graphics puzzle out an upgrade, the developers at Southend Mutual in Sweden have preserved the simple gameplay. You can play in 3D, but I'll credibly recuperate to the topdown 2D mode.
'Cause that's how I like my American football, the great unwashe: successful by a Scandinavian nation team, published past a Japanese ship's company and played without any base in world.
